    Get PDF
The disabling of a vehicle due to flat tires is always a constant concern for vehicles operators. In dealing with the problems, operators are often faced with the complexity of car jacks, not to mention the traffics hazards and other forms of damages that can occur under the inexperience hands. Standard mechanical car jacks are known as a screw jack, which is sturdy and cumbersome to handle. Other than that, operators can opt for hydraulic jacks that are commercially available in the market with variety of lifting capacities. A research was conducted on improving the portable vehicular hydraulic jack. An effort was made in converting manual operated hydraulic jack into a powered actuation. A reciprocating linkage was introduced in between the hydraulic jack and an electric motor, and thus removing the manual actuation handle. A hand-held controller was also introduced in controlling the lifting process of the jack. The result had shown that with proper engineering analysis, the improved electric powered portable hydraulic jack manage to lift any vehicle with ease, using available power provided by the vehicle battery

Research Development of Energy Efficient Water Hydraulics Manipulator for Underwater Application

    Get PDF
The paper presents research development of water hydraulics manipulator test rig for underwater application at Center for Advance Energy Research, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka. The test rig is designed in order to study the effectiveness of using water hydraulics system for underwater manipulation application. With objective to promote sustainability and energy saving, the manipulator system is targeted for usage in an underwater scenario, possibly on a small submarine or underwater remotely operated vehicle (ROV). Underwater vehicles normally utilize the use of oil hydraulics for propulsion, manipulation and instrument control. The research on underwater manipulator that uses the surrounding sea water itself as the power and energy carrier for control is now possible with the current development in water hydraulics technology

Slip Flow Coefficient Analysis in Water Hydraulics Gear Pump For Environmental Friendly Application

    Get PDF
Water hydraulics is the sustainable option in developing fluid power systems with environmental friendly approach. Therefore, an investigation on water-based external gear pump application is being conducted, as a low cost solution in the shifting effort of using water, instead of traditional oil hydraulics in fluid power application. As the gear pump is affected by fluid viscosity, an evaluation has been conducted on the slip flow coefficient, in order to understand to what extend the spur gear pump can be used with water-based hydraulic fluid. In this paper, the results of a simulated study of variable-speed fixed displacement gear pump are presented. The slip flow coefficient varies from rotational speed of 250 RPM to 3500 RPM, and provides volumetric efficiency ranges from 9 % to 97% accordingly

This paper, we present our study called TeleOperated Hydraulic Actuator which implying the usage of remote-controlled hydraulic system to control a mini excavator from a distance. Mini excavator comprises several motion mechanisms such as of swing, boom, arm and bucket. Simulation on the tele-operated electro-hydraulic actuator on boom mechanism has been conducted. The entire hydraulic system is modeled and simulate by using MATLAB software. The simulation result is discussed and described in order to analyze several system characteristics, given a certain working condition, within the simulation perio

Comparison Of Fractional Order PID Controller And Sliding Mode Controller With Computational Tuning Algorithm

    Get PDF
The industry processes involving punching, lifting, and digging usually require high precision, high force and long operating hours that increase the prestige in the usage of the electrohydraulic actuator (EHA) system. These processes with the companion of the EHA system usually possess high dynamic complexities that are hard to be controlled and require well-designed and powerful control system. Therefore, this paper will involve the examination of the designed controllers which is applied to the EHA system. Firstly, the conventional proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controller which is the famous controller in the industry is designed. Then, the improved PID controller, which is known as the fractional order PID (FO-PID) controller is designed. After that, the design of the gradually famous robust controller in the education field, which is the sliding mode controller (SMC) is performed. Since the controller’s parameters are essentially influencing the performance of the controller, the meta-heuristic optimization method, which is the particle swarm optimization (PSO) tuning method is applied. The variation in the system’s parameter is applied to evaluate the performance of the designed controllers. Referring to the outcome analysis, the increment of 59.3% is obtained in the comparison between PID and FOPID, while the increment of 67.13% is obtained in the comparison of the PID with the SMC controller. As a conclusion, all of the controllers perform differently associated with their own advantages and disadvantag

Unmanned operation is becoming synonymous in the extreme environment operation. The operation is also becoming important in order to increase working efficiency and situational awareness. The review includes the theoretical, experimental and practical applications of such technology in the present days, particularly for excavators. Various innovation and control methods have been studied over the years by various entities, which provide the significant contribution by the scientific community to the progressing world.

The integration of Islamic values in daily clinical practice among healthcare professionals: a scoping review

    Get PDF
Islam is a major world religion that has a universal system encompassing every aspect of daily human activities. In this regard, Islam also provides principles and values related to the practice of medicine. However, it is not known how much of the practices have been practiced in daily clinical settings. Therefore, this paper aims to chart the overview of the studies and publications that have been done related to the integration of Islamic principles and values being incorporated in clinical practice. This paper is a scoping review. Databases like PubMed, PLOS, BMJ, Cochrane, EBSCo, Emerald, ProQuest, ScienceDirect, Scopus, and ACI were used to conduct the literature search. MeSH terms like “Islam," “religion and medicine,” and “attitude of medical staff” are among the keywords used, along with synonyms like “Islam," “Islamic," “Muslim," “medicine," “clinical," “practise," “healthcare," “professionals," “Islamic medical practise," “doctor," “nurse,” and “healthcare professionals.” The Boolean operators “AND” and “OR” were applied during the search. In addition to databases, manual internet searches were conducted to find relevant papers. The review has found that Islamic concepts and ideals have been sporadically incorporated into medical practice worldwide, whether by Muslim or non-Muslim healthcare professionals. The three key themes related to Islamic practice in medicine: are (a) attitude and character of healthcare professionals, (b) clinical decisionmaking, and (c) holistic spiritual care. There is still a big gap and differences in integrating Islamic values into clinical practice. Further work on defining and constructing a framework for a holistic Islamic medical practice is warranted

Optical Carrier Suppression has been proven as an efficient way of generating high frequency optical carrier for Radio over Fiber (RoF) systems. However, previous studies show that OCS with the combination of RF and optical components can only transmit a single service in RoF system. This paper shows that two different services can be transmitted using a single wavelength through RoF system with the use of Polarization Multiplexing (PolMux) method. The combination of these two techniques enables multiservice RoF such as LTE and WiFi services to be transmitted simultaneously to the customers
